Introducing the first of my lovelies.... SPARKLE

Sparkle aka the little spoiled brat
Meet Sparkle.

I am not sure how old Sparkle is, but I adopted her from the SEACCA Shelter in May of 2009, shortly after my cat Sparky had passed... I named her Sparkle in tribute of my deceased cat Sparky.

One thing I will admit..I picked Sparkle because she had some resemblence to Sparky. However, after spending about two days with Sparkle, I came to realize Sparkle is completely different than Sparky.

The first difference is the gender. Sparky was a boy, and Sparkle is a girl. The second difference, believe it or not, is that Sparkle actually loves people, and behaves much like a dog! Sparky loved people too, but he used to get so crazy sometimes and he had time and time again attempted to ambush me from the dark corners of the house.

Sparkle, to my surprise, has been very loving and trusting from the beginning. Just like other animals from the shelter that have had a tough past before they were trapped by the animal shelter, Sparkle supposedly had a traumatic past on the streets of Vernon also; however, Sparkle did not need any sort of special "counseling" and became part of the family very quickly. She's a snuggle bug, and everyone loves her.

You call me a cat lady like it's a bad thing...

Picture your neighborhood Starbucks....pretend you like to go there and love coffee.

It's a Saturday afternoon and you're waiting for your friend to come, so you two could catch up over coffee. You have already ordered your tall skinny latte, and got yourself a semi decent table by the windows (it's only semi nice because the guy sitting at the table next to yours is yapping away on the phone, and nobody else seems bothered by it) and now you're wondering "Where the heck is she..?"

So your friend is more than 5 minutes left, and you're trying to kill time and not look bored. You don't want to call your friend because you've already texted her about 8 minutes ago, and she said she was "just around the corner" You can't help but wonder if there's another starbucks close by that you did not know about? Is your friend lost? "Oh well.." you say quietly to yourself, and decide to do what most people do when they're in public, and by themselves,..you check your phone.

Scroll, scroll, scroll, let me check my facebook to see what everyone is up to.

You noticed you've gotten some notifications on Facebook. Looks like someone had recently commented on a photo that was recently posted by you. It's a picture of your Tabby. The comment says "Oh my god, you're like the biggest cat lady I know!" Upon reading this comment, you can't help but feel a little annoyed. "OKAY..?" You wonder what that is all about.. it's not like the comment is all that bad, but why is it that everyone associates the term "Cat lady" with something negative?

Why?

This is the exact story that has happened to me recently. I have not been a cat lady all my life, but for the past 5 years, I am proud to say I have become a feline lover. I subscribe to "Cat Fancy" and own two cats of my own. I love everything about cats, and do not really care if people tease me for loving cats.

I have decided to start a blog about my love for these lovely creatures because there simply isn't a reason not to.

Let's see where this journey is going to take me.
